Welcome to the world of English where you have never explored before!!!
If you are new to this world then allow me to show you the path of English Language academics.
Fore mostly let me introduce myself. I am just a student on a mission to inform those who have no clue what a subsystem is (in the English domain that is) and to get a good grade on this assessment :D Other then that English is a fascinating but intricate language to study. Imagine those who are new to English and try to learn it! There are sooooooo many different type of rules and to make it even harder to remember all these rules, they are many exceptions. Remember the rule you learnt back when you were in primary school in your little chairs "I before E except after C"? Now that you have grown up you have realised the many exceptions to the rules like 'science' or 'deity'. Now you have to agree that English is a difficult subject to study.
There are 6 different subsystems in English. There is morphology, phonology, lexicology, syntax, semantics and lastly discourse analysis. Morphology is all about how words are formed in different types of registers (informal or formal). Phonology is about the sound of words and how they are organised. Lexicology is the classification of words in sentences or in general. The way sentences are constructed is lexicology, semantics is the definition of words and lastly discourse analysis is the study of the 'prolongness' of verbs in an expression which is written or either spoken
